The Social Indicators Lab focuses on conditions of life and wellness for families with young children. Using a developmental model, Dr. Vilches leads research on supports for parents using a critical approach to contexts of life. As an Extension Specialist in Early Childhood, Dr. Vilches is involved in program development, delivery and evaluation, educational materials and outreach. See the Projects Page for current projects.

Dr. Vilches welcomes undergraduate participation in the lab and accepts about 6 students a year. See the Lab Personnel tab for more information to find out more about how to participate, including for course credit.

We thank the Alabama Department of Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention for their support of recent projects. Please support their work by purchasing a keepsake birth certificate, license tag or making a donation. Thank you!
